Advanced Analytics/Data Science Position

Overview of Role and Responsibilities

This position is within our Advanced Analytics/Data Science group, with title of Manager or Director to be determined based on applicant qualifications. Location will be in Boston, MA.


At HSP, you will:

  • Work directly with HSP Partners and interact with a diverse group of clients.
  • Contribute to the development of custom solutions addressing challenging and critical BioPharma/Healthcare business issues, such as: new product assessment, asset valuation and indication prioritization, commercialization support across the product lifecycle, and customized engagements in launch strategy/communication.
  • Continue to develop an expertise in elite Data Advisory/Advanced Analytics skills; and for those so inclined, there is an opportunity to enhance/elevate your capabilities and confidence as a more complete and “end-to-end” BioPharma/Healthcare consultant.

HSP’s Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years in DA/AA roles in BioPharma/Healthcare strategy consulting and/or market research.
  • PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer/data sciences, social sciences, or other quantitative disciplines.
  • Experienced and highly proficient in the following:

               -  Advanced data analytics, multivariate analysis, and statistics 

                  (Discrete Choice, Conjoint, Segmentation, Max Diff)

                -  Secondary data from IQVIA, Symphony, and others 

                  (Acquisition, extraction, investigation, manipulation, integration, and application)

                -  Development and execution of evidence-based tools 

                   (Dashboards, typing tools, forecasts, simulators, optimization models)

                -  SAS and Excel for statistical analysis and modeling.

  • Previous work in AI, ML, and other innovative and exploratory approaches to problem-solving.
  • Ability to “own” the analytical component of an engagement, “translate” the data insights to strategic implications, and “drive” the development of actionable solutions for clients.
  • Energy and enthusiasm to be a strong contributor with the entire HSP client engagement team, beyond simply “working with the data”, to ensure client satisfaction and delivery excellence.
  • History of being client-facing and contributing to business development/sales through active participation and involvement in meetings, proposal development, presentations, etc.
  • Strong team and business communication skills, with the ability to have technical conversations with knowledgeable people and explain complex data issues to non-technical people.
  • Track record of proactively striving for innovation, creativity, and building new solutions for client engagements, strategic initiatives, and developing company-related intellectual property.
  • History of leveraging exhaustive Analysis Plans to drive each engagement, and a sharp focus on continually improving internal processes and efficiencies.
  • Ability to develop visually engaging slides which communicate a clear story from complex market dynamics, information, and/or data for client-ready deliverables as well as integration into larger HSP work-products.

Consultant

Overview of Role and Responsibilities 

As a Consultant at HSP, you will (with professional development and support from your team):

  • Advise leading healthcare, life sciences and biopharma companies. 
  • Support client partners make and implement critical decisions. 
  • Apply industry-leading and proprietary strategic frameworks.
  • Employ rigorous problem solving and business analysis skills.
  • Leverage evidence from an array of sources to drive answers and recommendations.

             - Design and conduct sophisticated qualitative and quantitative market research.             

             - Structure and mine market intelligence and secondary data (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony). 

             - Build and apply sophisticated business and forecast models, and scenario 

               assessment tools.
Location will be in Boston, MA.

An ideal candidate for this position at HSP will have:

  • An MBA (Health Sector Management concentration or dual MPH is a plus).
  • A passion for healthcare and life sciences. 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and a desire to grow these analytical skills  in a team environment.
  • An equally strong emotional and interpersonal aptitude.
  • Enthusiasm for gathering, synthesizing and structuring evidence to drive team perspective  and strategic guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication that is well-structured, logical, defensible,  and compelling (including strength and efficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint).
  • Interest in developing statistical and modeling skills (using Excel and best-in-class resources).
  • Attention to exacting detail and pride of ownership in every task or job.
  • Some relevant background in healthcare, life sciences, project management, market research  (e.g., qualitative moderating or online surveys), or consulting is a plus.

Associate Consultant
